BACSWhat it means, in plain English

BACS is the UK bank-to-bank payment system most employers use to pay wages, via the Bacs Direct Credit service. Payments run on a three-working-day cycle, so a payroll submitted on Monday arrives in employees' accounts on Wednesday, and files must be submitted by the scheme's daily deadline. This settlement lag is why payroll cut-offs sit several days before payday.
