Face-recognition kiosk

Turn any iPad into a face-recognition clock-in kiosk

Any iPad, including models up to ten years old, becomes a face-recognition clock-in terminal: staff look at the screen and they are clocked in. Matching happens on the device, staff opt in individually with a PIN always available, and the UK GDPR paperwork, consent and DPIA attestations included, is built into activation rather than left to you.

No credit card required. Free plan for up to 10 people.

01

Hardware you already own

No biometric wall unit, no installation visit, no support contract. The kiosk app runs on iPads up to ten years old, so the terminal is usually a device the business already has. Pair it to your account with a one-time code and mount it by the door.

02

Matching happens on the device

Face matching runs on the iPad itself, on-device. The kiosk is not streaming faces to a cloud service to decide who someone is, which is both faster at the door and an easier conversation with your staff and your DPO.

03

Consent first, PIN always

Face clock-in is opt-in per person, and the PIN pad is always available, both for staff who opt out and as the fallback UK GDPR requires alongside any biometric system. Nobody is forced through the camera to get paid.

04

The GDPR paperwork is part of the product

Biometric attendance data is special category data under UK GDPR, so the feature ships dormant: activating it walks you through the consent model and DPIA attestations before anything is enabled. Compliance is a checklist inside the product, not a PDF you were supposed to write.

Punches like any other, timesheets like any other

A face punch lands on the same timesheet as a phone, NFC or desktop punch, matched to the scheduled shift and flagged for approval by exception. On iPhone, the lock-screen shift timer starts even when the punch happened on the kiosk.

Questions about face-recognition kiosk

Is face-recognition clock-in legal in the UK?

Yes, with conditions: biometric data is special category data under UK GDPR, so you need a lawful basis, genuine consent and a non-biometric alternative. This product is built around exactly that: opt-in per person, a PIN pad always available, and DPIA attestations built into activation.

Where is the face data stored?

Matching happens on the kiosk device itself. Enrolment is per person and revocable, and staff who never opt in are never enrolled.

Which iPads does it work on?

Models up to around ten years old work. If there is an old iPad in a drawer, it is very likely a viable clock-in terminal.

What happens for staff who opt out?

They clock in with their PIN on the same kiosk, or from their own phone, an NFC tag or the Mac menu-bar clock pill. Opting out never blocks anyone from clocking in.

Which plan includes the face kiosk?

The face-recognition kiosk is an Enterprise plan feature, and it ships dormant on every workspace until an admin completes the activation checklist, consent model and DPIA attestations included.

Why does it ship dormant?

Because biometrics carry a real compliance burden. Activation forces the consent and DPIA questions to be answered before a single face is enrolled, which protects your staff and you.
